Mog Locker, Revisited

I’ve been looking at the traffic here so far, and it seems like people are REALLY interested in how to get their Mog Locker. If people are that interested, I figured I should probably write up my experiences with that particular quest in a bit more detail. There are a lot of guides out there that have good walkthroughs for this quest, but one more can’t hurt, right?

It’s been a few weeks since I did it, so I’ll try and remember everything that I did. If I forgot anything, or if you know a different way to go about it, let me know in the comments!

Tenshodo Membership

First thing’s first, and that’s the fact that you MUST have access to Aht Urghan, which of course means that you have to have the Treasures of Aht Urghan expansion installed, and you have to complete the quest to receive the airship pass to get to the Empire. Of course, there is a prerequisite to get this quest as well, and that’s the Tenshodo Membership quest. In order to recieve this quest, you must have at least Rank 3 fame in Jeuno. Jeuno fame is calculated based on your fame in each of the starting cities (Windurst, San d’ Oria, and Bastok). If you don’t want to worry about your fame in the other cities and just raise it in Jeuno, there are a few repeatable quests that you can do there, like Community Service, otherwise, you’ll have to raise your fame elsewhere.

There is another way to get this quest though, if you have a friend or LS mate who has the Tenshodo Invite item. You don’t even have to worry about fame if you can find someone kind enough to give you this item.

If you don’t know anyone with the Tenshodo Invite, you’ll just have to complete the quest, sorry. šŸ˜¦ After you have Jeuno fame to 3, go to the Neptune’s Spire Inn in Lower Jeuno. It’s located between the Auction House and the entrance to the Mog Houses to your right if you’re heading towards the Mog Houses. When you enter, you’ll see a counter with a Mithra behind it and a Tarutaru named Sutarara in the second room to your left. Talk to Sutarara and she will tell you that the Tenshodo is “right under your nose”. What my fellow Taru is really saying is that the Neptune’s Spire Inn is actually the headquarters for the Tenshodo! Now talk to the Mithra back at the counter, named Ghebi Damomohe. She will give you a series of options, but you don’t want any of those. You want the hidden option! Scroll down to the bottom of her list and select the blank space that appears. She will then tell you that you need either a Tenshodo Invite or an Application Form. Bureaucrats, don’t you just love them?

So, now that you know what you need, you’re going to need to head to Bastok, Port Bastok specifically, and you’ll need to speak to Jabbar in Warehouse #2 across from the Airship Agency to get your Application Form. Head allllll the way back to Jeuno and talk with Ghebi behind the counter again, and you should be good to go!

Hottest Ticket in Town

Now that you’re a fully fledged Tenshodo member, you can finally complete the quest to access Aht Urghan. There are a couple of different ways that you can do this, but the easiest, and the way I did it, is to collect all of the subjob items. Here are the items you’ll need, what area you can find them in, and what mob will drop them:

  • Valkurm Dunes
    • damselfly worm – drops from damselflies…of course!
    • crab apron – another no-brainer, drops from clippers
    • magicked skull – drops off of bogys, but also ghouls in Gusgen Mines
  • Buburimu Penninsula
    • cup of dhalmel saliva – lovely…drops off of ..what else? dhalmels!
    • bloody robe – drops off of bogys
    • wild rabbit tail – go get those mighty rarabs!

Getting these items is fairly easy. Most people get them as they party in the Dunes (blech), but you can always go back at a higher level and snatch em. Once you have all six items, head back to the Neptune’s Spire and go straight for the door in the back. You’re now in Tenshodo HQ, and you’re looking for Faursel, the white-haired elvaan standing at the table in the middle of the room. He’ll make fun of you for a bit, and then give you a couple of options. Again, this is a case where you don’t want what he’s offering up front, so scroll all the way down and select the hidden option. This should trigger a cutscene. Afterwards, you will need to select him again, and he’ll give you three options: Easy, Intermediate, and Advanced. For the subjob items, you’re going to want to choose Easy. He’ll make fun of you some more, but after waiting for ONE GAME DAY, you’ve got yourself a hot ticket to Aht Urghan. Remember, what happens in Whitegate, stays in Whitegate.

Hiding in the Bottom of the Ship

Once you’re ready to enjoy the wonders of Aht Urghan, you’re going to have to get to Mhaura to catch the boat. If you’re lower than 55-60ish, I highly reccomend spending the lovely 20 min boat ride doing something else while you hide in the bottom of the ship. Preferably with Reraise on. Yah.

Welcome to Aht Urghan, City of Lag!

That’s right. The first thing you’ll notice upon arrival in Whitegate is the craptastic lag. Try and wade through it and head towards (I-10) where you’ll meet the crazy Mithra Naja Salaheem, President of Salaheem’s Sentinels. She’ll give you your first mission, which is to deliver a supplies package to the Immortals who are out there all by their lonesome. Aww…how sad for them.

Before you get all gung-ho, you can also pick up another quest and do them both at the same time. The benefit to doing both of these quests at the same time is that with the secondary quest, Saga of the Skyserpent, you’ll get 1500 Imperial Standing and 1 Imperial Gold Piece. That little gold piece will help you fund your Mog Locker for a good long time, even if you don’t do any other Aht Urghan missions for a while. I highly reccomend doing this! Not only will you be good to go for a LOOOONG time, but you’ll also do a pretty cool quest that has a great storyline. For instructions on this quest, check out the link attatched to the quest name above. Great walkthrough!

So, you’ve got your package, and your quest, let’s go! Follow the maps located at the next three links, and you’ll be just fine. Sneak and invis are a must, keep them up at ALL TIMES.

Wajaom Woodlands (Exit from Al Zhabi)

Halvung (you get the lilac ribbon for Saga of the Skyserpent here)

Mount Zhayolm (the easiest staging point to reach)

(and yes, I know that the name on the maps says “Seaserpent”. I was tired. šŸ˜› )

Once you complete the cutscenes at the Staging Point, activate the portal, and go finish up!

You’ll have to travel to Nashmau to break your Imperial Gold coin, but just hop on the ferry and get it done, because having that extra 30 spaces for storage is very worth it. Once you have a couple of bronze pieces, you can trade them to your moogle to pay the lease on your Mog Locker. If you only want to use it in Aht Urghan areas, the lease costs 1 bronze piece per 7 REAL LIFE days. If you want to use it all over Vana’diel, it will cost 1 bronze piece per 5 days.

There…now that you’re all finished with ALL of that, you can kick back, relax and enjoy your extra storage along with a whole new set of areas, quests, and missions to explore. Have fun, and if you have any questions, leave a comment!
